Lay-Z-Spa E02 Error Help

E02 Error diagnose and repair help and guide

Ok so if you have arrived at this page you have got the dreaded E02 error everyone hates to see and always feel lost in what to try to resolve it. But Don't worry we are here to help.

The first and most important question I always ask is when you turn your heater or filter button on which of the next 2 things happen

  1. The pump makes a grumbling noise then after a few seconds you get the E02 Error
  2. The pump is silent (you might hear a small click) after a few seconds you get the E02 Error

Now if its number 1 the next steps to take is to check for blockages.

  1. Replace with a brand new filter (not a cleaned filter)
  2. Check the filter housing isn't twisted on too tight
  3. Check both debris screens on inlet and outlet pipes, The 1 behind filter housing and the top one behind the chem connect if you have 1 (remember the bottom is the inlet so dirt will get trapped on the outside of the dome but on the top 1 as its the outlet the dirt will be trapped behind the dome so you will have to disconnect the pump and back wash it with a hosepipe)
  4. Check all inlet and outlet pipes both in the liner walls and going into the pump to see if any of the pipes are squashed . we sell parts to fix this on our website they can be found here.
  5. The next thing to try would be to descale your pump this can be done by using a descaler which can be found here. Allow you pump to soak for a while before trying to turn the pump on with the descaler this will allow it to work and free some limescale off which will hopefully allow the pump to run and clear the limescale issue, if you cant get it to run they I'm afraid you will have to remove the heater and clean it manually. you can follow our how to guides which explain how to do this which can be found Here.  Our advice would be to buy a seal/service set and replace the heater seals at a minimum as these will not be able to be reused once the heater has been opened up to clean, The seal/service packs can be found here for the new post 2021 model (grey square shape) or if you have the pre 2021 model (egg shape) then the seal kit can be found here. If you do use multifunction tablets the heater can get blocked up very quickly with unused chemicals that hot tubs don't require so we would advise changing to hot tub spefic chlorine only tablets
  6. Check the flow sensor paddle this can be found in our how to guide which can be found Here and the replacement part can be found Here. this part will fit all models of Lay-Z=Spa including airjets and hydrojets.

If non of the above  work and this is normally not normally

  1. Check the impeller to see if its damaged or jammed up(make sure it spins freely) also check the impeller shaft condition.  A replacement for this can be found as part of the service packs mention above or we sell them separately which can be found here. please see guide and how to Here.
  2. Replace the transformer. please contact us for a transformer we can list them

Now If you answered number

  1. 99% of the time this will be the impeller that has failed either the magnet has failed or the shaft has broken. we sell the replacement part here.
  2. Only if number 1 doesnt work replace the transformer.

all of the above issues and how to fix can be found on our How to page which can be found Here

Water leaking from the bottom of your lay z spa pump or from the pipe connectors

Ok so you have water leaking from the bottom of your lay z spa pump there can be many reason for this but your in luck all of these can be fixed.

  1. If Your  Lay Z spa has developed a leak from underneath or dripping on the A connector we would advise checking a couple of things firstly there should be a rubber seal on the end of the A pipe which comes out of the pump for this connector make sure this is in place and properly seated if not then replacing this seal could resolve your problem you can find a replacement seal Here
  2. But if not the next thing to try is disconnect the A connector pipe the larger connector (Air Blower pipe)(on hydrojets its the smaller or the middle sized pipe on the newer pro versions) leave the 2 smaller pipes connected while the hot tub is full  of water now if water trickles out of the pipe its fine but if water gushes out the pipe constantly then 1 way valve is just what you need, buying 1 of our replacement 1 way valves from our store here could very well be the answer to all your problems. Now if you buy this valve and you find you still have a leak from the bottom of your pump or if you only have a trickle of water  coming out the pipe mentioned above then you have an internal fault in your pump. if you happy to take this apart then we would advise purchasing 1 of the Descale units from here which is the same thing we use for repair and service. These allow you to disconnect the pump and work on the pump at a suitable height to be able to see what's happening.  Once you have diagnosed the problem nip back to our website for the suitable repair kit to resolve you problem. our seal/service packs normally cover 95% of problems only in rare cases you may need a new housing part if it has cracked or your heater has been damaged too much by limescale which causes pitting in the alloy body of the heater  so not allowing a good seal if this is the case you require a new heater element.
